Salvatore Capezio, born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy, chose to become a cobbler rather than follow in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened a shop on Broadway and 39th Street in New York City, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers, who would stop by to discuss their needs and purchase his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and acquire his products.
The innovation of Capezio's creations and the camaraderie he shared with the dance community shaped the direction of his company. The Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.
Capezio products remain at the forefront in quality and technological advances, with innovations such as the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker, and the Tapsneaker. The company believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater, and recreation in communities worldwide.
As for the product details, the Dansneaker features a 100% mesh, suede, and synthetic fabric composition. The care instructions are machine wash. The shoe is of imported origin, with an Ethylene Vinyl Acetate sole material, and is made in China.
Women should order a 1/2 size up from their street shoe size, while men should order 2.5 sizes up. The shoe tends to run narrow. The split-sole design combines PU Nubuck and imitation suede upper with breathable SBR nylex mesh. The perforated arch provides ventilation, and the non-marking PU outsole has built-in patented flex points and a forepart spin spot. The shoe features a padded tongue, collar, and Achilles notch, as well as a contoured, cushioned, removable EVA footbed. The polyester cotton laces come with a sport lace system, and the toe is flat and boxed for toe stands.
The Dansneaker is designed to keep you cool and add flexibility through movements, with effortless spinning thanks to the built-in patented flex points and forepart spin spot. The speed looped lacing system offers a snug, more secure fit, allowing you to leave it all on the Zumba floor.
